Christopher Jones New Beginnings Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed May 2015 to assist all students enrolled at Sinclair who were emancipated by the Montgomery County foster care system within the past five years. Preference will be given to first-time applicants to this scholarship. Students must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Students must have been emancipated by the Montgomery County foster care system within the past five years and indicate that in their Personal Statement.
  • Students must have obtained a high school diploma or GED before applying for this scholarship.
  • Students must have applied for Educational Training Voucher (ETV) funds.
  • Students must be enrolled in a degree or certificate program at Sinclair
  • Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Students must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, agency staff member, community member or someone who is familiar with their school work, school activities, or employment experiences.

NOTE: This scholarship can pay out regardless of a student’s eligibility for Pell Grant or other scholarships.

Up to $1,000 per full-time student and $500 per part-time student (per school year)
