Fall 2020 CARES Grant Application

Students enrolled at Sinclair Community College may be eligible for CARES Grant funding on a first-come, first-served basis. Funds can be can be given to help cover expenses (food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child-care, etc.) related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 crisis. Students may apply for this funding by completing the application below.

This application is for Fall 2020 semester ONLY. SPRING 2020 AND SUMMER 2020 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.

You may be eligible for CARES Grant funding even if you have applied and received or were denied funds from the Emergency and/or COVID-19 Relief Grants.

FINANCIAL AID TERMS AND CONDITIONS: If awarded, CARES Grant funds will NOT impact your financial aid award package. Award is $1,000 per request—limit one request per semester. Funds cannot be distributed to students before 10 days prior to the start of the term.

To qualify for CARES Grant funding, you must:

  • Be registered for the semester for which you are applying to receive funds
  • You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet all requirements for federal financial aid, including but not limited to: US citizenship or eligible noncitizen; a valid Social Security number; have completed high school or its equivalent
  • You acknowledge that by completing and submitting this request form, you are not guaranteed to receive CARES Grant funding nor the total amount of funding you request.

Receiving Funds:
If approved, you will need to select a refund preference through BankMobile if you have not previously completed this step. This can be completed by logging into my.Sinclair.edu and clicking on the student refunds tile. Your refund choices will be: (1.) Direct Deposit into a BankMobile Vibe account (2.) ACH into an existing bank account or (3.) Paper check mailed by BankMobile. If a refund preference is not chosen, a paper check will be mailed to you from BankMobile but will be significantly delayed.

NOTE: Sinclair staff may follow up on your request via a phone call. Due to working remotely, phone calls from our staff will appear as coming from a private number rather than a Sinclair phone number.
