Butler-Wells Scholarship Fund - Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges

Welcome to the Butler-Wells Scholarship Program.

Florence Adelia Butler Wells directed in her will the eventual establishment of a scholarship fund to memorialize her parents, Rachel and John Butler, and her husband Charles Wells. The scholarship fund awards scholarships to “worthy and deserving young men and women of good character in obtaining either collegiate, scientific, technical, musical, or vocational education.”

Eligibility:

• High school graduates with a current grade point average equivalent to 2.0 or “C” (High school seniors and current college students may apply).
• Residents of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, or Illinois (Preference will be made for residents of Piqua, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; or Miami County, Ohio).
• Course of study must be related to specific career objectives, terminal degree, or eventual job certification (Undergraduate degrees only).
• Enrolled full-time at non-profit accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, technical, vocational or trade schools that are located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, or Illinois.
• Demonstrated financial need related to cost of proposed education.
• Demonstrated commitment to “giving back to the community,” either through volunteerism, community or religious service.
