Miami Valley Chapter Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio Scholarship

The Miami Valley Chapter of the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio (PLSO) is providing a scholarship those students seeking a
career in surveying who will represent the future of the surveying profession in Ohio and support the mission of PLSO.

ELIGIBILITY:
The eligibility of the applicant is determined by the following elements. The student applicant must meet, or exceed, each of these elements to be considered
eligible for the Miami Valley Chapter of PLSO scholarship award.
1. The student must be enrolled in a Surveying-related Degree/Certificate Program at a state accredited college or university.
a. A “Surveying-related” program includes civil engineering, civil engineering technology, geomatics, mapping and other degree and/or certificate programs that align with the practice of surveying as defined by Ohio Revised Code Section 4733.01(G).
2. It is preferred, but not required, that the student either resides or works within the boundaries of the Miami Valley Chapter of PLSO which includes
the counties of Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble.
3. The student must be prepared for their final year of a two year Surveying related Degree/Certificate Program at an Associate of Applied Science level;
or the Junior or Senior year of a Surveying-related Program at a four year Bachelor of Science level.
4. The student must have an accumulated grade point average of 2.5 or above, based on a 4.0 system, for the core curriculum in the Surveying related Degree/Certificate Program.
5. The student must be recommended for this award by a faculty member within the surveying department of the student’s school or by a member, in good standing, of PLSO.
6. The student must show a continued drive to become a practicing surveyor and exhibit those qualities which are essential in becoming a professional
person. This is demonstrated through the supplemental writing included in the Miami Valley Chapter of PLSO Scholarship Application form.
