Proud Scholars - LGBTQ Students and Dependents

Eligibility Requirements for Young Adults:

  • This award is open to Graduating High School Seniors, GED recipients, or college students ages 17 to 24 who identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender or are the child of LGBT parents.
  • Students planning to attend any post-secondary institution, i.e. public, private or proprietary institutions, are eligible to apply for Proud Scholars scholarships.
  • Student must have maintained GPA greater than a 2.2 during their final two years in high school, with a final graduating GPA of 2.0 or greater.

Eligibility Requirements for Adult Students:

  • Adults age 25 and older are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
  • Adult students planning to attend any post-secondary institution, i.e. public, private or proprietary institutions, are eligible to apply for Proud Scholars scholarships.
  • Professional certification programs qualify for Proud Scholars scholarships.

Applications Must Include:

  • A complete and signed copy of the attached application (click the “Visit” button to access) which includes a release form which must also be completed and submitted
  • A copy of your final high school transcript and/or GED
  • Copies of any college transcripts for courses you have taken
  • A written or video essay telling the scholarship review committee why you should be considered for an award

Note: Award criteria are based on the demonstration of leadership and community service involvement, academic credentials, personal essay or video essay, an individual interview, financial need and goals. Students must be enrolled at least half-time during the time period of their award to remain eligible. These scholarships are only for undergraduate study.
