Bankruptcy Law Office Scholarship Contest

This scholarship is sponsored by the Law Office of Ronald D. Weiss, a Long Island Bankruptcy, Foreclosure and Modification Attorneys and Lawyers, Serving Suffolk County and Nassau County, N.Y. In an effort to help a new generation meet their educational costs, Mr. Weiss is pleased to announce that he is offering incoming and existing college students an opportunity to win $2,500 college scholarship. Details on eligibility and the application process can be found below.

Eligibility:
In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship, applicants must fit the following criteria:

  • Be currently enrolled in a college or university or planning to enroll as a freshman for the 2019-2020 academic year.
  • Be in good academic standing with your current educational institution (minimum 2.0 GPA)
  • If under 18, have the permission of your parent or guardian to apply.

The Application Process:

*To apply, students must submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words on the following topic: "Current bankruptcy law requires that a debtor go through two (2) mandatory credit counseling courses (usually on-line or by phone) one before the filing of the bankruptcy case and the other at the end of the case before the debtor receives a discharge; are these course both necessary and should they be continued mandatory requirements for a bankruptcy case in their present form?”
