Civil Rights Transportation Symposium Scholarship for STEM Students

In celebration of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s 4th Annual Civil Rights Transportation Symposium, (3) Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to (3) individual students currently enrolled in a post high school education focusing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) related fields. The Civil Rights Transportation Symposium Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of individuals in the management and operation ranks of the engineering and transportation industry.

Students will be selected by submitting an essay describing how the Civil Rights Act has impacted the transportation industry and the role it will play in the future; application and supplemental documentation.

To qualify for this $1,000 award, students must:

  • Be enrolled full-time
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Be pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics Degree
  • Have authorization to work in the US

Required Documents to Submit:

  • Signed and completed scholarship application (access application by clicking the “Visit” button)
  • Account Summary or statement from Financial Aid Office confirming financial need and current enrollment
  • Unofficial college transcript
  • 800-word typed essay describing how the Civil Rights Act has impacted the transportation industry and the role it will play in the future

NOTE: Employees and immediate family members of Ohio Department of Transportation employees are not eligible to apply.
