RECOMMENDED: Beta Sigma Phi of Dayton/Laureate Delta Chapter Scholarship for Women

The Laureate Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Dayton is pleased to award a $500 scholarship to an outstanding adult female seeking to continue her education. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a woman seeking growth through education and community involvement. The scholarship will be awarded for tuition, books, transportation, childcare, or other expenses incurred as the student strives to attain her educational goal.

The applicant must have had a period of time as a NON-student sometime in her adult life. We are seeking individuals who embrace the philosophy of women supporting women and recognize the value of involvement in community organizations. Our organization wishes to embrace this person to the highest level of interaction and see them succeed.

Applications will be accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis and a total of two awards will be given per year. The applicant must be willing to have their photo taken for the presentation of the scholarship and provide our organization with information on how they are progressing academically. Awardees will be invited to be our guest at one of two city wide membership events held by our organization (November and April; dates to be provided) for the official announcement of the award.

If the scholarships are not awarded in the current year, the money will be rolled over into the program for future scholarship distribution. The recipient must provide viable documentation of the scholarship fund use.

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY:

• Applicant must be a female adult re-entry student.
• Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and a Miami Valley Resident
• The applicant may not be a member of or immediate family member of a Beta Sigma Phi of Dayton member.
• The committee will take into consideration extracurricular activities, leadership, work ethic, the application and the applicant’s commitment to our mission of women empowering women through community organizations.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $500 per scholarship to be applied for books, tuition, transportation, or other expenses necessary to reach your educational goal. Additionally, for any woman with an interest in becoming a member of the International organization of Beta Sigma Phi, membership dues will be paid by Beta Sigma Phi of Dayton, Laureate Delta Chapter, for the year in which she is a scholarship recipient.
